At least seven international airlines have expressed their intention to explore operating at the Philippines’ Clark International Airport (CRK), according to Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) president and chief executive officer Emigdio Tanjuatco III.
These airlines are Taiwan’s low-cost carrier V-Air, Singapore’s Jet Star, regional carrier Thai Smile, Malaysian carrier Rayani Air, Indonesia’s Express Air, Air India, and Airline 4.0, a new carrier from the United States.
Emirates Airlines will, meanwhile, return to CRK with a daily Dubai-Cebu-Clark service starting March 30.
Tanjuatco, in a statement, said the carriers are among 17 airline companies that sent representatives to Routes Asia 2016, an aviation forum held at the Mall of Asia SMX Convention in Manila on March 6-9.
The representatives visited CRK on March 5 when CIAC showcases the Northern Luzon aviation hub’s facilities and infrastructure, such as its passenger terminal building, in a bid to increase flights at the 2,367-hectare civil aviation complex.
“At the very most, these airlines can now see Clark Airport on paper and hopefully we can lure some of them to try Clark as well as to increase flights,” Tanjuatco said. CIAC is trying to attract more callers to CRK to give more options to passengers coming from and bound for the Northern Luzon area.
CRK is currently host to Qatar Airways, Asiana Airlines, Dragonair, Jin Air, Cebgo, Tiger Air of Singapore, Air Asia Berhad, and Cebu Pacific Air.
