The G6 Alliance will drop eight Asia-Europe sailings over the winter season—from late October 2013 to February 2014—in expectation of weak demand.
The void voyages consist of five Asia-North Europe services and three Asia-Mediterranean services.
The Asia-North Europe services to be removed are as follows: Loop 7 services to call Qingdao on October 28; Loop 4 services to arrive in Ningbo on November 22; Loop 6 services to call Kaohsiung on November 25 and February 10, 2014; and Loop 1 services with an expected time of arrival (ETA) in Kobe on January 3, 2014.
The void sailings on the Asia-Mediterranean services will be three EUM services slated to arrive in Busan on October 27, November 24, and February 9, 2014.
The alliance said it will continue to offer a variety of services between the Far East and Europe covering all major port pairs with weekly sailings.
The consortium consists of six members: APL, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Nippon Yusen Kaisha, and Orient Overseas Container Line.
