President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Jose Arturo Garcia, Jr. as officer-in-charge (OIC) general manager of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, in a letter to MMDA chairman Danilo Lim dated February 9, confirmed the designation of Garcia, who was previously assistant secretary for planning of MMDA. The letter was released to media only on February 12.

Garcia replaces Thomas Orbos, who had been serving as MMDA OIC general manager concurrent with his position as undersecretary for road transport and infrastructure of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

New appointment papers for Orbos as DOTr undersecretary was signed by President Duterte on February 6.
