
New deputy commissioner for the Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) Management Information System and Technology Group (MISTG), Allan Geronimo, has officially been sworn into office on March 1.
Customs commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero led the oath-taking of Geronimo, who replaced Jeffrey Ian Dy. Geronimo’s appointment paper was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on February 15 and released on February 19.
“I will support Commissioner Guerrero’s endeavors using technology so that we can continue to build the trust of the public with the bureau,” Geronimo was quoted as saying by BOC.
Before this, the new MISTG chief was vice president for ICT applications and software development at Development Bank of the Philippines since May 2018. Prior to DBP, he was vice president for information technology at Caritas Health Shield, Inc.; project manager at IBM Solutions Delivery, Inc.; lead systems analyst at OOCL Philippines, Inc.; and junior programmer at Azeus Systems.
He studied Computer Engineering and Chemistry at Ateneo de Manila University, and took his master’s degree in business administration at the University of the Philippines.
