Hamburg-based Hapag-Lloyd has scheduled general rate increases from East Asia to Latin America and the Caribbean to take effect in the middle of July.
The German shipping line on June 13 said it will boost rates for all cargoes and container types from East Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America, and the West Coast of South America from July 15.
Rates will also climb for all cargoes and container types from East Asia, the Indian Sub-Continent, and the Middle East to the East Coast of South America on the same day.
The GRI for these routes will be US$750 per TEU (20-foot-equivalent unit).
For the trade lanes from East Asia to the Caribbean, East Coast of Central America, and Panama, freight rates for all cargoes and container types will also go up by July 15. The GRIs are $980 per 20-foot container and $1,400 per 40-foot container.
Hapag-Lloyd also announced today two rounds of rate recovery for its Northeast Asia to Australia services to be implemented next month.
From July 1, freight rates for all cargoes and container types on the Northeast Asia-Australia sling will go up by $100 per TEU, and from July 15, by $200 per TEU.
