German ocean carrier Hapag-Lloyd will introduce a new Asia-U.S. West Coast service called Pacific China Express (PCX) this month even as it terminates the existing Asia-U.S. West Coast service called China America Express (CAX).
PCX will have its first eastbound sailing on the Hyundai Courage from Ningbo on April 22, 2013. The first westbound sailing will be from Los Angeles on May 14.
The port rotation of the PCX will be as follows: Ningbo, Shanghai, Kwangyang, Pusan, Los Angeles, Oakland, Pusan, Kwangyang, and back to Ningbo.
CAX will sail for the final time from Shanghai on April 19 and from Los Angeles on May 4. All other services will remain unchanged, the company said.
Meanwhile, the Hamburg-based liner said it will implement a rate restoration program on its trade service from East Asia (excluding Japan) to the Arabian Gulf.
The rate hike, to take effect on May 15, will be US$300 per TEU (20-foot-equivalent unit) and cover all cargoes and container types on the East Asia-Arabian Gulf lane.
The Arabian Gulf includes the ports in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
