The customs agencies of Hong Kong and Indonesia have forged a cooperation to enhance administrative assistance to fight transnational crime.
The Customs & Excise Department of Hong Kong and Indonesia’s Directorate General of Customs and Excise signed the cooperative arrangement on February 16 at the Customs headquarters in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong’s Commissioner of Customs and Excise Roy Tang and Director General of the Indonesian Customs and Excise Heru Pambudi represented the two customs in the signing ceremony.
The agencies will strengthen cooperation through mutual administrative assistance, including information exchange and law enforcement to fight the smuggling of endangered species, narcotics, and tobacco products.
The administrative assistance under the pact also covers information sharing for trade facilitation procedures, import and export control, and formalities streamlining to facilitate trade and expedite trade flow.
Hong Kong has signed similar arrangements with 24 other customs administrations, including China’s General Administration of Customs.
