Garuda Indonesia said it will restructure its passenger planes to make room for more cargo in response to what it sees is the rising demand for airfreight services.
Indonesia’s flag carrier said that, for now, the belly of its passenger planes will be transformed to hold more cargo.
The airline does not have dedicated air freighters yet, but it has ordered three Airbus 330 freighters that are set for delivery by end-2013.
Garuda said earlier that it will push through with a plan to expand its fleet by more than 50 percent within the next three years.
