PHILIPPINE exports in June grew 33.4% to $4.545 billion from $3.407 billion in the same month last year, according to latest data from the National Statistics Office.

This brought exports for the first six months of the year to $23.711 billion, up 37.7% from $17.225 billion during the same semester last year.

Compared to the May 2010 receipts of $4.241 billion, June exports also jumped 7.2%.

Accounting for 63.9% of the total June exports, electronic products was the country’s top export commodity with earnings of $2.904 billion, an improvement of 49.1% from $1.948 billion in June 2009.

Components/devices (semi-conductors), which comprised 50.5% of the total and accounted for the biggest share among the major groups of electronic products, amounted to $2.293 billion or an annual growth of 71.2%.

Articles of apparel and clothing accessories was the second top export commodity for June with earnings of $152.36 million.

Representing 2.1% of June exports and the country’s third top export was coconut oil at $95.62 million.

Singapore emerged as the top export destination for Philippine products in June representing 16.5% of the total with revenues of $748.83 million.

The US followed with earnings of $743.49 million or 16.4% share of the total. The amount increased 22.3% from $607.96 million reported a year earlier.

Shipments to Japan in June amounted to $659.23 million.
