Swiss forwarder Kuehne + Nagel has appointed Dr. Detlef Trefzger as a new member of the management board, taking over from March 1, 2013 the global responsibility for the contract logistics unit.

Trefzger will replace Dirk Reich, who stepped down on November 30 as executive vice president for contract logistics after 18 years with the company. CEO Reinhard Lange will oversee the unit until Trefzger assumes his new role in March, a company press statement said.

Trefzger was a member of the executive board of Schenker AG, Essen, Germany, from 2004 to October 2012. He held worldwide responsibility for the contract logistics and supply chain management division, and most recently he additionally was in charge of global airfreight and ocean freight.

He started his career at Siemens AG. In 1994 he moved to the logistics sector, initially as a principal at Roland Berger & Partner in Munich. In 1999 he was appointed CFO and executive board member of Schenker & CO AG in Vienna, Austria.
