Copenhagen-based Maersk Line will impose a series of general rate hikes on key sea lanes beginning May.
Maersk Line, the world’s leading container shipper, plans to raise cargo rates on these dates:
May 1
Southeast Asia to Australia: US$500 per 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU) and $1,000 per 40-foot equivalent unit (FEU)
May 15
Far East Asia to India and Pakistan: $150 per TEU and $300 per FEU and 45-foot high cube container
U.S.to the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East and Red Sea: $100 per container
Far East Asia to Central America and the Caribbean: $560 per TEU and $800 per FEU and high-cube container on dry cargo

Far East Asia to East Africa: $200 per TEU on dry shipments
Meanwhile, the Danish box ship said Daily Maersk, its daily service on the Asia-North Europe trade that has now been running for six months, has delivered an average reliability rate of 97 percent for the period, exceeding 99 percent more recently.
