A.P. Moller-Maersk has appointed executives to head its two units in the Philippines in a reshuffle that positions the group for expected strong growth in “an exciting market.”
Erry Hardianto will assume his new post as country manager of Maersk Line Philippines on July 1 while Glenn MacArtney, new country manager of MCC Transport, took office on May 27. MCC Transport is a regional specialist handling all intra-Asia containerized cargo for the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group.
The appointments underscore the country’s importance in Maersk’s global operations. The Philippines is identified by the group as one of five key countries in Asia, in addition to India, China, Vietnam and Singapore.
Hardianto, previously Maersk Line Indonesia’s senior general manager for trade and marketing, will replace Johan Sigsgaard, who assumed a new role at Maersk Line’s headquarters in Copenhagen after serving as managing director of the Philippine unit since 2012.
MacArtney replaced Naresh Potty, who was appointed chief commercial officer at the MCC headquarters in Singapore.
Hardianto will be reporting to Thomas Knudsen, regional head of Maersk Line in Asia Pacific.
“The Philippines is one of the countries in Southeast Asia having strong GDP growth and is definitely an exciting market where we want to further grow our container business. Erry’s familiarity with the region makes him the ideal candidate to head our business in the Philippines,” Knudsen said.
Hardianto graduated from the Philippine School of Business Administration in 1998, took up shipping and logistics management at Maersk International Shipping Education in 2001 and obtained his masters degree in international business at the University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia. For 12 years, he held various positions in Maersk Line Singapore and Indonesia
As country manager, Hardianto will be responsible for the development and execution of the Maersk Line Philippines’ business strategy, overseeing sales, customer service, operations and finance.
