ID-100204272PortCalls is co-organizing with the Philippine International Seafreight Forwarders Association a forum on the Safety of Life at Seas amendments concerning the requirement for shippers to verify the gross mass of a container carrying cargo. The forum will be held on March 11, 2016 at the Manila Diamond Ballroom Hotel.

The globally binding amendment will come into force on July 1, 2016. On that date, packed containers without a verified gross mass will not be allowed loading onto a vessel.

Invited speakers include Philippine Ports Authority general manager Raul Santos (Government Rules on Implementation of Verified Gross Mass Regulation) and AP Moller-Maersk Philippines’ Inland Operations manager Maria Cecilia Bejoc (Shipping Line Operational Guidelines and How These Would Impact Transactions With Shippers).
