MCC Transport, the Singapore-based intra-Asia unit of the AP Moller-Maersk Group, has announced increases in terminal handling charges for both imports and exports in west Malaysia effective November 1, 2011.

Handling fees in the ports of Penang, Klang, Tanjung Pelepas, and Kuantan will be adjusted to MYR340 for a 20-foot GP container, and MYR500 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high-cube unit.

The fee hikes are intended to align the Malaysia rates with those of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, MCC said.

Earlier, the carrier said terminal handling charges in Singapore would also be increased from November 1. The new fees are SGD192 for a 20-foot GP unit, and SGD290 for a 40-foot GP unit and a 40-foot high-cube container. New handling rates for a 20-foot reefer unit is SGD247, for a 40-foot reefer unit is SGD371, and for a 45-foot heavy-duty unit is SGD290.
