MCC Transport has seen increased business and greater customer satisfaction due to its direct service to Batangas port, about 110 kilometers from the Philippine capital Manila.

The weekly service between Batangas and Singapore was launched in December 2011 after consumer goods giant Nestlé reviewed its operations in southern Luzon and realized it could ship most imports and some exports through Batangas instead of only using the Manila port.

“This direct service has improved overall supply chain and associated costs as the containers are now being delivered directly from Singapore to Batangas, so this service potentially brings about greater operational efficiency for companies with production facilities in this area,” Naresh Potty, who is responsible for overseeing the operations of MCC Transport in the Philippines, said in a statement.

“Being flexible allows us to respond quickly and start up new services in response to the needs of the market and our customers,” Potty said.

“Batangas port is strategically located near the main industrial base of Luzon so being the only international carrier to presently call at this port increases our product range to customers,” Potty added.

Christian Brath, head of Nestlé’s Ocean Transport Procurement for Asia, Oceania and the Middle East, for his part said, “This direct short-sea link between Batangas and our key markets of Thailand and Singapore ensures timely and reliable delivery of raw materials and finished products to and from our facilities in the Philippines.”

To better serve Nestlé, MCC Transport has dedicated personnel in the Philippines to focus on its import and export requirements, offering 24/7 service and reviewing transactions to spot improvement opportunities.

The shipping company also coordinates with sister company Maersk Line so Nestlé’s shipments globally are shipped on time and its requests handled promptly.

Nestlé mainly imports raw materials, finished products and packaging paraphernalia into the Philippines. In turn, it sends out goods such as infant milk formula, beverages and coffee creamer to over 30 countries in Asia and the rest of the world.

Apart from Manila and Batangas, MCC Transport operates in Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Davao and General Santos, offering wide coverage of North Asia and South East Asia through six weekly services.

In addition, it operates a domestic shipping company through a joint venture with 2GO

Group, Inc.
