Mercury Freight International, Inc. (MFII), a leading total logistics solutions provider in the Philippines, expects continued healthy growth for its local and international operations as it celebrates 30 years in the business.
MFII foresees a 20% increase in volumes handled for this year, the same rate of growth it recorded in 2016. Growth, according to President and COO Chris Coching, will come from electronics, foodstuff, and project cargoes.
Coching also sees opportunities in developing its global partners, such as Myanmar and Vietnam, and the bigger growth of the North America market. Locally, MFII expects opportunities to arise from the growing interest and rising investments in southern Philippines.
Moving forward, MFII said clients can expect the same efficient service and can continue to enjoy the advantages of being served by a firm with Singapore-based Asian Worldwide Services (AWS) for its partner.
Investing in and partnering with AWS has paved the way for MFII to further strengthen not only its local operations as a network agent in the Philippines, but also its international logistics business as an integral part of the global network itself, Coching added.
Likewise, to improve business to/from two of the biggest trade lanes in the world, MFII collaborates with CIL/China Trans for China and the US.
Over the years MFII has invested in a number of facilities, owning its office and warehouse in Parañaque, an office in Cebu, and a recreational facility for its employees in Batangas. This year, the company will open a new office in Davao.
Coching said MFII remains a reliable non-vessel operating common carrier and has been a consistent top player for Asia-bound cargoes, especially for shipments going to Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Busan, Bangkok, China, Keelung.
MFII, whose name was inspired by the Roman god Mercury, was established in 1987 as a customs broker and cargo consolidator. Over the years, it has grown to offer total logistics services: sea freight, air freight, land transportation, ship agency and chartering, customs clearance, shipping documentation, project cargo handling, and warehousing and distribution.
