Mexican training vessel ARM Cuauhtémoc BE-01 will dock at Pier 15, Manila South Harbor from August 4 to 8 to celebrate the ship’s 35th anniversary, and the centennial anniversary of the Promulgation of the Mexican Constitution.
This is ARM Cuauhtémoc’s first trip to Manila, which will also commemorate the historic 250-year Manila-Acapulco Galleon trade.
In a press release, the Embassy of Mexico said the vessel’s visit to Manila aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Mexico and the Philippines.
Comprising a crew of nine senior officers, 44 officers, 43 cadets and 122 enlisted men and women headed by Captain Rafael Lagunes, ARM Cuauhtémoc’s primary mission includes training cadets but it also presents itself as an ambassador for Mexico.
Public visits on board will be allowed and interested visitors may register at Gate 1, South Harbor, Port Area. ARM Cuauhtémoc’s ship agent is Doña Virginia Maritima Corp.
Launched in 1982, the vessel has travelled 700,000 nautical miles and trained 34 generations of cadets from the Heroic Navy Military School in Mexico.
