French ocean carrier CMA CGM announced the launch April next year of the Ocean Alliance Day Two Product, designed to further bolster the service offering of the four-member liner consortium.

CMA CGM in a statement said that the new product offering will provide better services and introduce upgrades to Ocean Alliance’s customers.

The new offering will start in April 2018.

Olivier Nivoix, senior vice president of Ocean Alliance Lines, stated: “This new product perfectly illustrates our customer centric strategy, by improving the service level provided with new solutions in key areas such as US East Coast, Red Sea, Middle East Gulf and Europe.”

The Ocean Alliance Day Two Product will have an estimated carrying capacity of around 3.6 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), with around 340 container ships deployed on 41 services. Of this, CMA CGM said it will be providing a fleet of 122 ships.

With the service upgrade, the network will be featuring 20 trans-Pacific services, six Asia-Europe services, four Asia-Mediterranean services, four trans-Atlantic services, five Asia-Middle East services, and two Asia-Red Sea services.

On the trans-Atlantic trade, the new offering will provide an increased coverage of the East Coast with CMA CGM splitting its Victory Bridge service to offer two specific services to the East Coast of the U.S. (Independence Bridge) and to the Gulf of Mexico and Mexico (Victory Bridge);

There will also be a direct service from North China and South Korea to the Red Sea.

The alliance will still continue to optimize and upgrade its offering with additional ports of call, said the statement.

The Ocean Alliance is the world’s largest vessel-sharing agreement between shipping companies. It was launched on April 1, 2017 with 40 services on seven  trades.

The consortium consists of CMA CGM, China’s Cosco Shipping, Taiwan’s Evergreen Line, and Hong Kong-based Orient Overseas Container Line.
