Hong Kong’s Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has received its newest 13,208-TEU container ship and named it NYK Hermes at a christening ceremony held on Geoje Island in South Korea yesterday.
Leased to NYK of Japan, the new mega ship is the sixth of 10 vessels of the same class ordered by OOCL from Samsung Heavy Industries.
The new box ship will serve the Asia-Europe trade on the LP4 service on a 77-day round trip.
Her port rotation will be Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Singapore, Suez Canal, Le Havre, Southampton, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Suez Canal, Jeddah, Singapore, Yantian, and back to Ningbo.
