Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has named the newest and fifth mega unit in its series of six “G Class” container ships on order at the Samsung Heavy Industry shipyard in South Korea, the newbuild for fielding on the Asia-Northern Europe trade lane.
The 21,413-twenty foot equivalent unit (TEU) container ship, named the OOCL Scandinavia, will be joining the shipping liner’s LL1 service, linking major markets in China and Northern Europe together.
The OOCL Scandinavia will be joining her sister vessels the OOCL Hong Kong, OOCL Germany, OOCL Japan, and OOCL United Kingdom in serving the Far East-Europe trade lane.
The newbuild has an overall length of nearly 400 meters, breadth of 58.8 meters, depth of 32.5 meters, and designed draft of 14.5 meters.
Her port rotation is Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Yantian, Singapore, via Suez Canal, Felixstowe, Rotterdam, Gdansk, Wilhelmshaven, Felixstowe, via Suez Canal, Singapore, Yantian, and Shanghai, embarking on a round trip that takes 77 days.
