The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corp. has opened two additional exit ramps that will make travel to Meycauayan, Bulacan more convenient.

Early this year, NLEX started constructing the P31.5-million exit ramps as part its continuing enhancement program to deliver quality service to expressway users. These ramps are located on the northbound portion of Brgy. Libtong and the southbound portion of Brgy. Pandayan.

“The new exits hope to relieve rush hour traffic congestion at the Meycauayan Interchange,” Manila North Tollways Corp president Rodrigo Franco said, pointing out that “more than improving traffic flow, these new exits also aim to make commercial activities in the City more efficient.”

Vehicular traffic on both east and west directions of the Camalig-Iba-Malhacan roads in Meycauayan has dramatically increased as the city, aside from its well-known leather and jewelry businesses, hosts a vast number of manufacturing and industrial compounds which contribute to significant truck traffic.

NLEX Corp. is undertaking a traffic improvement program in Meycauayan that includes the construction of additional exits, signalization of the east roundabout, and expansion of the southbound toll plaza to address traffic buildup at the interchange.

Based on an NLEX-commissioned traffic study, once these enhancements are implemented, traffic congestion along Meycauayan Interchange will be reduced, translating to lesser delays and shorter travel times especially during peak periods.

The City Government of Meycauayan has committed to support NLEX’s traffic decongestion program.

“A comprehensive traffic management plan has been made in coordination with the NLEX management for the long-term traffic solutions in our City,” Mayor Henry Villarica said.

The Meycauayan government has augmented its traffic management measures by deploying more traffic enforcers to manage the flow of vehicles and enhance pedestrian safety. It has also imposed traffic ordinances that prevent illegal parking and improper loading and unloading of passengers.

Aside from its Meycauayan program, NLEX has also built a new exit at the southbound portion of Lingunan, Valenzuela City to address the surge in the number of motorists using the exit on Paso de Blas, Valenzuela.
