Philippine transport agencies are now on heightened alert to ensure that passengers are safe, secure, and comfortable during this year’s observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
DOTr, as well as its attached agencies, is all set to implement “Oplan Byaheng Ayos: Undas 2018 from October 27 to November 5, according to a memorandum signed by DOTr assistant secretary for special concerns Manuel Gonzales.
“Sa mga panahong ganito, malaking bagay na maaga ang paghahanda at maayos ang komunikasyon at koordinasyon [In times like this, it’s important to prepare early and ensure smooth communication and coordination.]. Our paramount priority is the safety and comfort of our passengers,” Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade said.
Under Oplan Byaheng Ayos, DOTr frontline agencies are directed to implement 24/7 operations. All passenger booths and counters should be properly manned during operating hours to lessen or prevent heavy queuing.
Communication lines are likewise directed to be open to attend to public concerns. Further, Tugade is requiring offices to provide the public with real-time reporting of incidents and emergencies, as well as give updates on all matters concerning Oplan Byaheng Ayos.
Public advisories such as safety tips, common types of violations on expressways, and safety and security regulations at airports, seaports and other transportation hubs will be issued.
Tarpaulins bearing emergency and hotline numbers will also be disseminated and posted in conspicuous areas.
