BOC NAIA drug seizureThe Bureau of Customs (BOC) has seized a parcel allegedly containing high-grade marijuana, also known as Kush weeds, weighing 1.05 kilograms and with an estimated street value of P1.6 million, at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.

The parcel, originating from the United States and containing three vacuum-sealed pouches of suspected Kush weeds, was seized on December 6 by BOC-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) frontliners and operatives in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

The parcel was declared to contain “Marvel comic and child sleeping bag” and consigned to a certain individual from Taguig City. The suspect, whom BOC did not name, was apprehended while claiming the parcel.

The suspect will undergo inquest proceedings for violation of Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, in relation to R.A. 10863 or the Customs Modernization Tariff Act.

BOC-NAIA district collector Carmelita Talusan noted that combined efforts of the customs bureau, PDEA, and NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group have resulted in 58 drug busts since 2018.
