The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is seeking bidders for improvement works on the general cargo berth at Davao-Sasa port.
PPA in a bid bulletin posted on its website said the project has an approved sum under its 2018 corporate budget of P885.096 million.
The project involves the upgrading of the 8,954-square-meter general cargo berth and port lighting system at Davao-Sasa port and requires a completion date of 720 calendar days.
Bidding will be conducted through open competitive bidding procedures using nondiscretionary pass/fail criterion as specified in the 2016 Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 9184, otherwise known as the Government Procurement Reform Act.
Bidding is restricted to Filipino citizens/sole proprietorships, cooperatives, and partnerships or organizations with at least 75% interest or outstanding capital stock belonging to citizens of the Philippines.
Bidders should have completed a contract similar to the project, PPA noted. Interested parties may obtain further information from the PPA Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) for Engineering Projects and inspect the bidding documents at the PPA’s head office in South Harbor, Port Area, Manila, or through the PHILGEPS (Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System) website.
A pre-bid conference for the project is scheduled on January 8, 2019, and bids must be received by the BAC Secretariat on or before January 28, which is also the date of bid opening.
For the first nine months of 2018, Davao-Sasa port handled 3.161 million metric tons (mt) of cargo, 0.4% lower than the 3.175 million mt handled in the same period in 2017.
Earlier, PPA general manager Atty. Jay Daniel Santiago said the port authority had actually allotted P2 billion in 2018 to rehabilitate Davao-Sasa port’s container yard.
Chelsea Logistics Holdings, Corp. has also submitted an P11.5-billion unsolicited proposal to rehabilitate and develop Davao-Sasa port. The proposal was submitted to PPA in August 2018 for evaluation.
