Global forwarder Panalpina on January 4 announced the appointment of Stefan Karlen, managing director for Southeast Asia, as the new regional CEO for Asia-Pacific.

The Swiss logistics company said Karlen will replace Marco Gadola, who was leaving the company to “pursue a career opportunity outside of the logistics industry.” Karlen assumes his new function on January 7.

In welcoming Karlen, group CEO Monika Ribar said he “has a profound understanding of our business and our culture.”

Karlen joined Panalpina in 1997 and held several management positions in Europe and Asia. In his last position, he was responsible for Panalpina’s Southeast Asia network comprising Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
