Traffic re-routing will be implemented in some areas in Manila, Pasay, and Makati during the Philippines’ hosting of the 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and related meetings from April 26 to 29.
According to the official Twitter account for the ASEAN 2017 Chairmanship in the Philippines, re-routing will be implemented along Sen. W. Diokno Boulevard, Jalandoni St., V. Sotto St., Bukaneg St., and A. Dela Rama St., in Pasay City. Occasional traffic disruption will also be expected along Arnaiz Avenue and Makati Avenue in Makati City. These roads will be considered ASEAN lanes, including Parkway Drive in Pasay.
The Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex will be an “ASEAN delegates only” zone during the period. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will also implement a stop-and-go scheme during the passage of vehicles of participants on certain roads.
For northbound vehicles taking Roxas Boulevard. take right turn to EDSA, Arnaiz, or Buendia, then turn left to Taft Avenue, then left turn to United Nations or Finance Road to destination.
For southbound vehicles, turn left from Roxas Boulevard to P. Burgos, Kalaw, or United Nations, then turn right at Taft Avenue. From Taft, turn right to Buendia or EDSA, then left to Roxas Boulevard.
For vehicles exiting Paseo going to Arnaiz, they can turn right to Benavidez (St (counterflow) then right to Trasierra, left to Gamboa, right to Rufino all the way to Pasong Tamo/Javier, or take a u-turn to Amorsolo/Rufino then right to Fernando towards destination.
Malacañang has declared April 27 as a no-work day in government offices in Manila, Pasay, and Makati, and April 28 as a non-working holiday in Metro Manila, the in view of ASEAN-related activities.
The Philippines is the chairman of the ASEAN 2017, with a theme “Partnering for Change Engaging the World”, which reflects the Philippine government’s advocacy to promote unity with and among ASEAN member states and its global partners.
Priorities for the meetings are a people-oriented, people-centered ASEAN; peace and stability in the region; maritime security and cooperation; inclusive, innovation-led growth; ASEAN’s resiliency; and and the region as model of regionalism and global player.
High officials and representatives from other ASEAN countries are expected to attend the meetings.
