THE Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has created a committee for the clearing and relocation of affected facilities and other structures within the South Harbor in preparation for further developments in the area.

PPA general manager Oscar M. Sevilla recently appointed Port District Office (PDO) of Manila/Northern Luzon manager Leopoldo Bungubung as chairman of the committee.

The committee, Sevilla said, is tasked to work closely with Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI), the South Harbor cargo handling operator.

The clearing and relocation of all office buildings and other structures to suitable areas within the South Harbor expanded port zone must be integrated in the
revised development plans, the port agency noted.

The committee will coordinate and conduct meetings with ATI, PPA and other parties concerned to facilitate the clearing and relocation plan. It will also be responsible for preparing all the necessary action papers for the approval of the management including letters, memorandum of agreement, waivers of leasehold rights and briefings for the PPA management board.

Sevilla ordered the committee to submit an initial report of accomplishments to his office by early January 2005 and periodic progress reports every other month.
