Christine Pardiñas is set to assume the presidency of the Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines (SCMAP) for a two-year term starting 2019, succeeding current president Nestor Felicio once he concludes his term at the end of 2018.

Pardiñas, vice president-Supply Chain and Logistics at Rustan Supercenters, Inc, was named SCMAP’s president-elect by the organization’s new Board of Directors, whose members were elected last November for the term 2018. She is currently vice president of the association.

The announcement was made during SCMAP’s Christmas fellowship held last December 1 at the Makati Sports Club.

Pardiñas is the first representative from the retailing industry to assume the top role in SCMAP, as well as its predecessor organization, the Distribution Management Association of the Philippines. SCMAP said that throughout its history, presidents have come from the manufacturing, distribution, or logistics sector.

Her selection highlights the organization’s thrust to attract more retailers into its membership as an important part of the end-to-end supply chain, SCMAP said.

Dina Pilapil of LF Logistics will continue as the board secretary in 2018. Clarissa Castillo of Johnson & Johnson was named treasurer, while Arnel Gamboa of National Bookstore was named auditor.

Other directors include Anghelita Santor of Nestlé, Carlo Curay of XVC Logistics, German Martizano of Unilever, Mark Comandante of Zuellig Pharma, and Tina Alvarez of Procter & Gamble.

To ensure stronger continuity and a better transition between successive boards, SCMAP amended its by-laws in 2016, extending the one-year term of the president to two years. It also introduced the position of president-elect, who is chosen during the current president’s second year in office and who will become the new president for the next two years.

SCMAP is the premiere supply chain organization of the country, advocating the improvement of the industry, communicating the latest developments and trends, and educating supply chain practitioners at all levels.

It counts over 180 members under three chapters and spread throughout the country, encompassing both companies and individuals including top manufacturers, retailers, and logistics providers. – Roumina Pablo
