The Plaza Dilao Ramp of the Skyway Stage 3 project is now partially open, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

“To ease traffic congestion in Buendia, we are opening two lanes, one [on] the northbound and [another on the] southbound section,” DPWH secretary Mark Villar said in a statement.

This 3.7-kilometer (km) Plaza Dilao Ramp section of the Skyway Stage 3 Section 1 extends from Buendia in Makati to Plaza Dilao in Manila.

“Skyway Stage 3 Section 1 is not fully completed yet but we are opening two lanes, one each for north and southbound so that vehicular traffic will be dispersed from the congested main roads in the area,” Villar said.

“A maximum speed of 40 kph [km per hour] will be maintained along the main viaduct. Moreover, 20 kph at the ramps will be implemented,” he added.

The Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 is an 18.68-km elevated expressway stretched over Metro Manila from Buendia, Makati City, to Balintawak, Quezon City.

Villar announced that the Skyway Stage 3 project as of July 22 is about 60% complete, with both sections 1 and 3 more than 80% completed.

“Section 1 from Buendia Avenue, Makati City to Quirino Avenue in Nagtahan, Manila is now 83% completed, while Section 3 from Ramon Magsaysay Avenue to Balintawak is 81% completed,” Villar said.

Other sections are also being fast-tracked to ensure that Skyway’s mainline from Buendia to Balintawak meets the target completion date by the first quarter of 2020.

To date, the completion status of Skyway Stage 3 Section 2A from Nagtahan to Tomas Claudio is at 34%; Section 2B from Tomas Claudio to Ramon Magsaysay Avenue is at 60%; Section 4 from Quezon Avenue to Balintawak is at 51%; and Balintawak to North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) is at 11%.

Section 2A1 from Tomas Claudio to Polytechnic University of the Philippines Sta. Mesa campus will start soon.

Upon completion, Skyway Stage 3 will ease traffic through the provision of eight access ramps/interchanges strategically located on Buendia Avenue (South Super Highway, Makati City), President Quirino Avenue (Malate, Manila), Plaza Dilao (Paco, Manila), Nagtahan/Aurora Boulevard (Manila), E. Rodriguez Avenue (Quezon City), Quezon Avenue (Quezon City), Sgt. Rivera St. (Quezon City), and North Luzon Expressway.
