No damage was reported at the Subic container terminal following the April 22 earthquake that shook parts of Luzon.

The terminal is about 25 kilometers from Castillejos, Zambales, the epicenter of the 6.1-magnitude earthquake.

“The terminal is fine. All our people are ok and resilient as ever,” Roberto Locsin, president of Subic terminal operator Subic Bay International Terminal Corp. (SBITC), said in a text message to PortCalls on April 22.

“No damage to equipment, no toppled or damaged containers, and berth is ok. In fact, yard ops restarted soon after and vessel ops about an hour later after confirming all quay cranes were cleared to operate,” he added.

“We now have a vessel alongside and hardly any delays for incoming customers.”

Locsin added all roads from the container terminal to Tipo Gate through the length of Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway north and south bound are normal to all traffic. – Roumina Pablo
