ID-10080663The Philippines’ major ports, logistics and import/export enterprises will convene at this year’s biggest Transport Summit on April 23, 2014 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza as they discuss highly relevant stakeholder issues surrounding the supply chain sector.

Organized by the Philippine International Seafreight Forwarders Association (PISFA) and PortCalls, Transport Summit 2014 themed “Removing Barriers in Cargo Transportation and Customs” will closely examine cargo industry prospects amid the country’s economic growth; alternative transport solutions to Manila; and new Customs processes in support of greater trade facilitation.

A highlight of the summit will be a panel discussion between government officials and private sector representatives on emerging transport issues such as the recently implemented expanded Manila truck ban as well as other government policies. At the end of the summit, various industry representatives will convene to draft a private sector declaration identifying solutions to industry concerns. The declaration will later be submitted to concerned government agencies for their action.

Summit speakers include Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority chairman Roberto Garcia, National Economic and Development Authority deputy director general Dr Emmanuel Esguerra, Bureau of Customs deputy commissioner Atty Agaton Teodoro Uvero, European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines vice president for External Affairs Henry Schumacher, Asian Terminals Inc (ATI) vice president Sean Perez, Subic Bay International Terminal Corp (SBITC) general manager Reimond Silvestre and other port and economic experts as guest speakers.

Major sponsors are ATI and SBITC and minor sponsor Isuzu.
