bocBigLogoThe Bureau of Customs (BOC) is looking for a deputy commissioner for its Management Information Systems Technology Group (MISTG), a position vacant for more than a month now.

In a bulletin, BOC said applicants should have a master’s degree, five years’ supervisory experience, and 120 hours of managerial training completed within the past five years. The applicant should also hold a Career Executive Service Eligibility certification.

Applicants may submit the requirements to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Internal Administration Group. No deadline was given for the submission of applications.

MISTG is currently headed by Director Angelica Sarmiento following the resignation of former MISTG deputy commissioner Primo Aguas in May. Aguas was part of the reform team that entered BOC in late 2013. Sarmiento, on the other hand, was detailed from the Department of Finance, BOC’s mother agency.

MISTG, a BOC division created on January 9, 1998 under Executive Order No. 463, is tasked with the direct management and control of IT facilities and services of the agency. Under the MISTG are the Planning and Systems Development Service, Planning and Management Information Division, Systems Development Division, Technology Management Service, Technical Support Division, and System Management Division.

MISTG is instrumental in implementing the bureau’s new computer system that will take the place of the electronic-to-mobile system.
