Zim Integrated Shipping Services has extended the port coverage of its Asia-Europe service, AEX1.

Added are calls to the Asian ports of Dalian, Qingdao, and Port Klang, as well as an additional eastbound call to Shanghai.

“The new rotation offers a very competitive product covering all major Chinese markets, Southeast Asia, and the four major North European ports,” a company statement said.

The newly expanded coverage is Dalian, Qingdao, Shanghai (west), Ningbo, Yantian, Port Klang, Felixstowe, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Antwerpen, Nansha, Shanghai (east), and Dalian.

The Israeli carrier deploys three 10,000-TEU (20-foot-equivalent unit) vessels out of 10 in this joint service with China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL).

Meanwhile, Wan Hai Lines of Taiwan has re-embarked on an independent Asia-Mexico/West Coast South America service after leaving the Asia-Mexico/WCSA (WSA2) service, a joint operation with Evergreen Line, Cosco Container Lines, and Pacific International Lines.

The relaunched WSA service deploys 1,500-TEU box ships with a port rotation of Kaohsiung, Shenzhen-Shekou, Hong Kong, Ningbo, Shanghai, Manzanillo (Mexico), Lazaro Cardenas, Buenaventura, Guayaquil, Callao, Manzanillo (Mexico), and back to Kaohsiung.

Its first sailing was from Kaohsiung on July 6.

Wan Hai Lines stopped its WSA service in September 2012 after launching it in July the same year to join Cosco’s WSA service, and the NAX and CEX services of the consortium of CCNI, Hamburg Sud, CSCL, Hanjin Shipping, and Hyundai Merchant Marine.
