Israel-based Zim Integrated Shipping Services has unveiled the details of its revised and expanded network for the trans-Pacific trade that it will kick off in April 2017.

The planned service network features two existing trade loops that are being upgraded and introduces a new third service.

To be introduced in April is the Zim North Pacific (ZNP) route as part of its revised network in the trans-Pacific trade.

The carrier said the ZNP is a new fast link from Asia to the Pacific North West that will connect major ports in Southeast Asia and China to the Vancouver gateway, with a rail link to inland destinations in the U.S. and Canada. ZNP also offers expanded coverage of Asian ports on both import and export.

The ZNP’s rotation is Port Klang, Cai Mep, Da Chan Bay, Yantian, Xiamen, Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Vancouver, Busan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Da Chan Bay, and Port Klang.

The service will join Zim’s enhanced trans-Pacific network, which includes the Zim Container Service Pacific (ZCP). The liner shipping company’s prime offering, ZCP operates from Shanghai and Busan to the U.S. South Atlantic, Gulf, and Caribbean clusters. It will have an upgraded rotation with port calls at Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Rodman, Panama Canal, Kingston, Savannah, Norfolk, New York, Halifax, Kingston, and Qingdao.

The other operating loop is Zim Seven Star Service (Z7S), the Asia-U.S. East Coast service that resumes full-scale activity in April to offer extensive port coverage from South China, Southeast Asia, and the Indian sub-continent to the U.S. East Coast main ports, including Maher terminal in New York. Z7S has a port rotation of Da Chan Bay, Yantian, Cai Mep, Port Klang, Colombo, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Port Klang, and Da Chan Bay.

“The upgraded structure allows Zim a broad operational and commercial flexibility to comply with our customer’s needs, and enables a fast response to changing market needs. Zim’s outstanding record of schedule reliability and ongoing focus on customer service will be further enhanced in the framework of this improved structure,” said Nissim Yochai, Zim vice president for the trans-Pacific Trade.
