The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has already finished 89.8% of the bypass road project intended to benefit motorists and cargo trucks traveling between Alae, Bukidnon and Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental in Mindanao.
DPWH Region X director Zenaida T. Tan in a statement said the Alae Bypass Road involves constructing a 10-kilometer new road, improving on a seven-kilometer existing road, and building three bridges spanning a total of 237 linear meters. The project also entails installing slope protection and drainage system components.
The bypass road will start in Barangay Casinglot, Tagoloan, pass through sitios Malaiba and Bugna in Barangay Mantibugao, and end in Barangay Alae, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.
When completed, the Alae Bypass Road will divert traffic along the busy Sayre Highway, Puerto-Alae Section, and serve as an alternate road going to Mindanao Container Terminal in Tagoloan, where cargo trucks coming from Bukidnon will be catered to directly.
Part of the proposed Cagayan de Oro alternate highway, the Alae Bypass Road is among the priority projects in the provinces of Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon. DPWH has received a total of P1.76 billion for the project and still needs P200 million to finish it before its slated opening in November 2019.
