Air France-KLM reported a drop of 7.8 percent year-over-year in cargo traffic for August 2012 following a reduction in its Asia-Pacific and Americas sales.
The group said it had adjusted its full-freighter flight schedule for August that led to a 5.2 percent reduction in capacity, but the carrier still recorded a fall of 1.7 percent in load factor to 60.6 percentage points.
Unit revenue per available ton kilometer was also lower than in August 2011.
The airline’s revenue from the Asia-Pacific region fell 11.9 percent for August compared to the corresponding period last year, while that from the Americas dove 3.6 percent.
Lufthansa Cargo also reported a contraction in freight volume in August from the same period last year. Sales were down 7 percent on a 10.6 percent reduction in capacity, bringing the cargo load factor up by 2.7 percentage points (71.4 percent) over last year.
