Low-cost carrier AirAsia recently launched two new services from its hub in Clark, two hours from the Philippine capital Manila, — to Singapore and Taipei.
AirAsia is the only carrier offering four times weekly services for the Clark–Taipei route with flights departing at 12:05 pm and arriving at Taoyuan International Airport at 2:00 pm. Taipei is the low-fare airline’s fifth and newest regional destination, following Clark-Singapore with daily flights departing at 6:10 am and arriving at Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 1 at 9:40 am. The new routes use brand-new Airbus A320s.
“Our newest routes and additional frequencies provide yet another opportunity for our Filipino workers from Central and Northern Luzon who are working in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taipei to have access to AirAsia’s low-fare, high-value travel experience,” chief executive Marianne Hontiveros said.
There are about 177,600 Filipinos working in Singapore and more than 100,000 in Taiwan. Taiwan is also the Philippines’ fifth-largest source of tourists with over 155,000 visiting the Philippines as of October this year.
In addition to the new routes, AirAsia increased flight frequency for Clark to Hong Kong from daily to additional thrice a week with evening flights every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for a total of ten times per week flights.
AirAsia Inc. is a 60-40 joint venture among Filipino investors Hontiveros, Antonio Cojuangco and Michael Romero, and Malaysia’s AirAsia International Ltd., a wholly- owned subsidiary of AirAsia Berhad.
