Singapore Changi Airport handled 3.5 percent less cargo in May this year versus the same period in 2012.
In a press statement, Changi Airport Group said the airport processed 147,555 tonnes of cargo in May 2013 compared to 152,884 tonnes year-over-year.
From January to May, shipments also declined compared to the same period last year. Volume dipped 2.4 percent to 727,148 tonnes for the first five months of this year from 745,043 tonnes last year.
Meanwhile, Lee Lik Hsin has been appointed the new president of Singapore Airlines Cargo (SIA Cargo).
The appointment will take effect on August 1, 2013, with Lee taking over from Tan Kai Ping, who will return to parent company Singapore Airlines as senior vice president of corporate planning, a post currently held by Lee.
The management changes are part of an ongoing program to rotate senior executives into different roles within the SIA group, according to a company statement.
Lee has been with Singapore Airlines since 1994 and has served in various positions in the head office and overseas. Tan joined Singapore Airlines in 1995 and has been president of SIA Cargo since early 2010.
