GAC is strengthening its logistics and oil & gas services in Latin America, with the announcement of two new appointments at GAC Brazil.

With effect from 1 October, 2011, Monica Chaves is appointed as Oil & Gas and Logistics Manager based in Rio de Janeiro. Monica will drive overall logistics sales and expand product portfolios further to better penetrate the region’s oil & gas sector. She brings to her new role more than a decade of experience in freight forwarding, including four years with GAC Rio de Janeiro in charge of logistics sales development and provided integrated logistics solutions to the clients.

At the same time, GAC Brazil is expanding its presence in Macaé. The city is at the heart of a major oil field and home of the operational HQ of the Brazilian state-controlled oil company, Petrobras, in Campos Basin.

From the new office in Macaé, Monica will be supported by Valdecia Pires, who takes on the duties of Key Account Coordinator. Valdecia will promote GAC’s diverse portfolio of logistics services to support the energy sector and provide tailor-made logistics solutions for the oil & gas companies in the region. Previously, she worked for two years at GAC Rio de Janeiro, where she was responsible for selling the company’s capabilities to existing and potential clients.

Rodrigo De Marco, Managing Director of GAC Brazil, says the two new appointments bear witness to GAC’s commitment to the Brazilian energy market: “GAC Brazil aims to provide differentiated logistics and oil & gas services to its clients and it is important for us to have people in our team with a sound understanding of our customers’ demands and needs. Monica and Valdecia have the background and experience to help us do just that.”
