Intra-Asia carrier SITC has updated its port calls to include the port of Subic in its CPX4 service.
The service’s rotation now starts in Subic, then proceeds to Manila South, Manila North, Cebu, Bintulu (Malaysia), Shanghai, Quanzhou, Hong Kong, and Shekou, before heading back to Subic.
The 19-day service calls Subic Tuesdays and departs Wednesdays.
SITC started calling Subic in October last year as part of the intra-Asia carrier’s development plans for the Philippines. The first Subic port call was part of the Hakata-Shanghai-Xiamen-Manila-Subic-Xiamen-Shanghai-Busan-Hakata rotation.
SITC last April modified CPX4 to make direct connections between Cebu and South China.
Aside from Subic, Cebu and Manila, SITC also calls Batangas port.
Other carriers have likewise recently increased their port calls to the Northern and Central Luzon gateway.
Taiwan-based Wan Hai Lines and Japanese carrier Nippon Yusen Kaisha Line both doubled their weekly calls to Subic.
Other carriers calling Subic port include APL, Swire Shipping, and MCC Transport.
Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) recently said it targets handling 120,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) at Subic port this year. SBMA said containerized cargoes processed by the port increased 28% in the first quarter of 2015. Last year, Subic served 77,177 TEUs, which is more than double the 37,469 TEUs it handled in 2013. – Roumina Pablo
