Singapore and Hungary signed September 26 an air transport agreement (ATA) formalizing the agreement that was concluded in 2011, Singapore’s Ministry of Transport announced.

Under the agreement, the airlines of Singapore and Hungary will be able to fly any number of direct services between the two countries, with no restrictions on capacity, frequency, aircraft type, and routing schedules.

In addition, both countries’ airlines can operate any number of passenger services, with certain restrictions, and up to 21 weekly cargo services via or beyond to any third country.

The ATA was inked in Singapore by Minister for Education and Second Minister for Transport Ng Chee Meng and Hungary’s Minister for National Development Miklós Seszták on the sidelines of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s official visit to Singapore from September 26 to 27.

Ng said, “The signing of this ATA reflects the warm bilateral ties between Singapore and Hungary. We look forward to further and closer collaboration, including through the ASEAN-EU Comprehensive Air Transport Agreement, to strengthen the two regions’ connectivity.”

He added, “Adopting a liberal aviation policy, Singapore continuously seeks to deepen its connectivity to the world. This enables businesses to extend their market reach and forge partnerships, and people to foster cultural links and personal ties that span the globe.”

With the Singapore-Hungary ATA, Singapore has concluded air services agreements with some 140 states and territories, of which over 60 are open skies agreements.
