NEWLY installed Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) general manager Atty Juan Sta. Ana said his former employer, developer and contractor FF Cruz and Co, Inc, will not participate in any PPA project for a year. Neither will it get preferential treatment from the agency after that period of inhibition.

Sta. Ana was senior vice president of FF Cruz and vice president of several FF Cruz subsidiaries such as Freysinet Filipinas Corp, and FF Marine Corp before assuming the top post at PPA.

Contracts already awarded by past administrations to the company will continue.

FF Cruz is PPA’s biggest port project contractor. It was responsible for the construction of Batangas Port together with Japanese firm Shimizu as well as the development of the Port of Iloilo.

F.F. Cruz & Co, Inc is also PPA’s dredging contractor. It is currently removing silts at the Manila International Container Terminal, among many other locations.
