The P264-million flyover project on the Aguinaldo-Daang Hari Intersection in Imus City, Cavite has officially been opened to vehicular traffic.
With a total length of 564 lineal meters including approaches, the four-lane flyover in Barangay Anabu is the first flyover built in Imus City, Cavite as a traffic solution to the busy Aguinaldo Highway-Daanghari Road intersection and nearby Anabu roads leading to the Cavite-Laguna Expressway, said Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar.
Opened October 12, the newly completed flyover is seen to improve the living standards of people near the area and fast-track the delivery of goods and services to sustain the growth and development of Imus City and even neighboring Dasmariñas City.
DPWH said the flyover will cut in half travel time by about 15 to 30 minutes from Daang Hari Road—the main road to and from thickly populated Cavite and Metro Manila—going to Malagasang-Bucandala-Alapan Road.
The flyover is expected to eliminate delays especially for the through traffic movement on Daang Hari Road and to cut vehicle operating costs.
Villar said the Aguinaldo-Daang Hari Intersection Flyover will also help the government’s air pollution control program as less traffic along the intersection will also reduce carbon emissions caused by idling of vehicles.
The DPWH Regional Office IV-A started to implement the construction of the project in March 2016, but progress was hampered by right-of-way issues. Moreover, an accident occurred in May 2018 when the boom crane operator placed the girder or concrete beam on the flyover, causing part of the flyover to collapse and requiring new girders to be fabricated.
