Roll on-roll off Philippine operator Asian Marine Transport Corp (AMTC), which operates the Super Shuttle Ferries, has made Asian Terminals Inc’s South Harbor its homeport in Manila.
The move comes at a time when AMTC has acquired more efficient vessels with greater capacity for passengers and containerized and roll-on/roll-off cargoes.
AMTC is deploying the M/V Super Shuttle Roro 8 for its Manila-Cebu-Davao-General Santos service and the M/V Super Shuttle Ro-Ro 7 for its Manila-Iloilo-Zamboanga-Davao-General Santos run. Each of the vessels has a 400-twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) capacity.
AMTC earlier said the Manila service is part of an expansion program, which also includes two weekly services in Batangas. For the Batangas-Cagayan de Oro via Masbate and Cebu route, AMTC deploys the 150-TEU Super Shuttle Ro-Ro 3. The second service out of Batangas uses the 250-TEU Super Shuttle Ro-Ro 5.
Aside from Batangas, AMTC also connects Subic Bay Freeport to Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, Bacolod, Masbate, Romblon, Kalibo, Roxas City, Calapan and Ormoc.
