United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) will introduce ARC2, a fixed-day weekly service from Asia to the Southern Red Sea that will provide direct services to additional Red Sea ports.
The new setup is under a vessel-sharing agreement with CMA CGM and China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) and intends to provide competitive transit times between ports in Asia and the Red Sea.
The ARC2 will complement the recently introduced Asia Northern Red Sea Service (ARC1).
“The combination of the two services will greatly improve our direct port coverage in Asia and the Red Sea region, meeting the growing demand and customer requirements to/from the Red Sea market,” the company said in a written statement.
The port rotation is Xiamen, Yantian, Shekou, Port Klang, Djibouti, Jeddah, Port Sudan, and back to Port Klang.
The service network starts on May 8, 2014.
