The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has approved a 3% increase in cargo handling tariff at the port of Dapitan in Zamboanga del Norte.

The adjustment is pursuant to PPA Board Resolution No. 2706 and is on top of the 10% provisional rate increase given in 2013, according to PPA Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 13-2018 signed by PPA general manager Jay Daniel Santiago. MC 13-2018 is dated June 26 but was published on July 10.

The increase, effective starting August 9, will be implemented in one tranche.

The ports authority in PPA Operations Memorandum Circular (OMC) No. 04-2018 dated July 23 provides the revised schedule of cargo handling tariff at Dapitan port, which includes rates for both domestic and international cargo, though data from PPA’s website showed that the baseport has been handling only domestic shipments.

Prudential Customs Brokerage Services, Inc. provides cargo-handling services for the port.

Data from PPA’s website showed the baseport handled 378,001 metric tons in 2017, 1.1% higher than the 373,529 metric tons it serviced in 2016. For the first quarter of 2018, Dapitan port handled 94,751 metric tons, or 0.8% up from the 93,990 metric tons in the same period last year.
