Cargo Data Exchange Center, Inc (CDEC) last week conducted the final series of its 2011 executive briefings for the airfreight industry.
A total of 186 airfreight import documentation managers and supervisors attended the briefing at the Skyfreight Building conference room in NAIA.
CDEC CEO Leo Morada discussed the latest statistics and gave an analysis of electronic master and house airway bill (e-MAWB/e-HAWB) submissions to the Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) electronic-to-mobile system using CDEC’s value-added service provider (VASP) system. Highlights of the latest draft customs memorandum on revised procedures for the submission of electronic air manifest were also tackled.
Another executive briefing for airline and ground-handling agents was held last week at the Open Skies Lounge of the PAIR-PAGS Center Building. A total of 45 participants from foreign airlines, ground-handling agents, and airport cargo warehouses that use CDEC VASP services attended.
In that briefing, Morada provided statistics on the aggregate number of e-MAWBs submitted through the CDEC VASP from August to September 2011. He also discussed problems related to e-manifest submissions brought to the attention of the BOC by CDEC. The concerns are now being considered in the draft customs memorandum order for air manifest submission.
A special orientation for seafreight forwarders and customs brokers will also be conducted on November 23, 2011 at the Skyfreight Building conference room. The briefing entitled “Preparing For The Christmas Holiday Rush!” will offer tips on avoiding potential delays in import documentation processing during the expected upsurge of import shipment arrivals prior to the Christmas season.
