CMA CGMWeak demand has compelled CMA CGM to add two more void trips to its Chinese New Year (CNY) blank sailings program.

In a statement, the French box liner said it will drop two additional FAL westbound sailings from China on weeks 9 and 10.

“In addition to its Chinese New Year blank sailings program, communicated on January 16th, 2014, CMA CGM has decided to continue adjusting its capacity to slack market demand until end of February/early March 2014,” a company release said.

On week 9 the void sailing will be the FAL 6 trip scheduled to depart from Tianjin, China, on February 17 and reach Shanghai, China, on February 26.

Instead, FAL 7 vessel MSC Valeria will add extra calls in Port Klang, Malaysia, on March 9, 2014, and in Felixstowe, UK, on March 28, 2014. Additionally, FAL 3 vessel CMA CGM Titan will add an extra call in Zeebrugge, Belgium, on March 28.

On week 10, to be omitted is the FAL 3 trip from Tianjin on February 27 to Shanghai on March 8. The FAL 1 ship CMA CGM Magellan will add extra calls in Singapore on March 16, and in Le Havre in France on April 6.

Last month, the company said it was scrapping sailings on the Far East to North Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Red Sea trade lanes starting February 4 in anticipation of reduced production in China during the Lunar New Year observation.
