Global contract logistics firm DHL Supply Chain has announced the appointment of Dave Lim as managing director of Hong Kong and Macau.

The appointment took effect October 1, 2013.

In his new post, Lim will oversee the growth of the Hong Kong and Macau market, and manage 220,000 square meters of warehousing space and 900 employees as well the transportation network and value-added supply chain services.

The branch will continue to focus on cutting costs and serving key sectors, including technology, retail, life science, and healthcare, said a company statement.

Lim first joined DHL in 1999 and later took office as country manager for DHL Supply Chain Taiwan. He will be reporting to Victor Mok, CEO of North Asia, DHL Supply Chain.

“I am confident that Dave’s extensive industry experience will contribute to the continued growth of our Hong Kong business, especially in the technology and retail sectors. Dave will drive operations excellence at the DHL Supply Chain MegaHub in Hong Kong and our facilities in Macau, ensuring that we continue to deliver on our customer promise,” said Mok.

Meanwhile, Dutch supply chain management company Ceva Logistics announced the appointment of Xavier Urbain as company CEO, to take over from Marvin Schlanger who retires on January 2, 2014.

Urbain, who will be located at the company’s global head office in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands, has had a long career in the supply chain industry. He had previously served in several senior executive positions at Kuehne + Nagel and as CEO of ACR Logistics, a Ceva official release said.

Schlanger will resume his position as non-executive chairman of the board, a role he first undertook in 2009.
