DHL Global Forwarding, the air and sea freight unit of Deutsche Post DHL, plans to open two more offices in Indonesia to tap into opportunities arising from six new economic corridors to be developed by the Southeast Asian country.

The new branch offices, which will be located in Manado and Palembang, will beef up DHL Global Forwarding’s network in the country to nine offices and 40 terminals, with more offices planned for the next two years.

“Indonesia is one of the four MIST countries—Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea and Turkey—identified as the next group of fast-growing economies by both economists and DHL alike,” said DHL Global Forwarding Asia Pacific CEO Kelvin Leung.

“Indonesia is poised for rapid growth as the government pursues its economic strategy and invests in infrastructure to create first-class logistics capabilities by 2025,” he added.

The new operations will begin later this year. Manado is one of Indonesia’s fastest growing areas, while Palembang is the capital and second largest city of Sumatra.
